Basic Boer Facts.....

Originating from South Africa, the Boer Goat is primarily a meat producing animal, and considered the hardiest of the goat breeds.

Breeders within the United States can not keep up with the growing demand for goat meat.  As a result, the majority of Boer goat meat consumed in the United States, is currently imported from other countries, such as New Zealand.

The genetic dominance of the Boer Goat, make it the ideal breed to raise in a goat ranch enterprise.  They have a high resistance to disease, and adapt readily to various climates & terrain.

Breed standards, according to the ABGA, include high fertility, pasture hardiness, high meat production.  Mature Bucks weigh between 240-300 pounds.  Mature Does weigh between 200-225 pounds.
